Thanks to CoolSculpting, “Going Commando” is Now Optional for Sonja Morgan

Opting out of underwear can be freeing for many men and women, but for Real Housewives of New York star Sonja Morgan, it was a necessity. However, when Morgan tried CoolSculpting—a popular treatment at Spectrum Dermatology—she was finally given the choice go to commando or not. Morgan is known for trying out the latest dermatology treatments on every season of the show, but CoolSculpting was the real game changer.

Panty lines are the bane of many women’s existence. Even thongs can show panty lines, digging into the flesh and ruining an outfit. Morgan had largely given up on underwear because it highlights and exaggerates bulges. In an interview with People in March 2019, Morgan said, “I love my body, and I love my curves and I’m very happy with myself, but I just couldn’t stand the area where my swimsuit bottoms or my jeans would cut into my hips. I thought, ‘I work so hard, I get my rest and I eat well, and I do a little exercise here and there. Why is that still there?’”

Morgan had heard about CoolSculpting’s rave reviews from friends, and finally tried it out on her love handles. The first thing she noticed was that her underwear fit correctly. “I’m wearing underwear right now, and it doesn’t cut in anymore,” she said. “I’m known for going commando. So, now I don’t have to.”

She was a perfect candidate for the procedure because she was within a healthy weight range and took care of her body. However, at 55 years old, there was only so much Morgan could do. CoolSculpting is designed to sculpt the body, providing a little help with targeted, permanent fat loss in stubborn areas by freezing away the fat. On average, a person can lose around 20 percent of the fat that fits within the CoolSculpting applicator per treatment. Most people require between three and five sessions, but Morgan says she saw visible results after just one. Plus, it doesn’t hurt. “It’s just a cooling sensation,” she said.
