Plaque Psoriasis Clinical Trials

SPECTRUM DERMATOLOGY | SCOTTSDALE & GREATER PHOENIX, ARIZONA

Nobody is certain what causes psoriasis, but it’s thought to be a response of an overactive immune system. Everyone has different psoriasis triggers, but common ones include infections, stress, and cold. Psoriasis can look like a plaque-type rash on the skin featuring white or silver patches, and is often found on the elbows, knees, other joints, and scalp. Both adults and children can suffer from psoriasis, and although it isn’t dangerous it can be embarrassing and uncomfortable. Just a few psoriasis patches can have a big impact on a person’s life.

Pediatric psoriasis accounts for about 33 percent of psoriasis cases, and children might have mild, moderate, or severe psoriasis. Unfortunately, psoriasis is currently a lifelong condition with no known cure, but psoriasis symptoms may be managed with medication. The good news is that most pediatric psoriasis patients have mild psoriasis. Oftentimes, the condition appears after infections like strep throat.
